About BCF

The Bermuda Community Foundation (BCF) is a public grantmaking charity that raises funds from a variety of sources, with the aim of building an endowment as a permanent philanthropic resource for Bermuda.

It is an independent philanthropic institution, supported by and for the benefit of individuals and organisations in Bermuda.

BCF will assist donors in making the most of their generosity, and will provide the Bermudian community with a sustainable source of charitable funding.

BCF will provide the link between those who want to give, and those who have need. It will:

• disburse funds to community organisations, including charities, nonprofits, social entrepreneurs, and collaboratives while building a permanent charitable asset base,

• oversee funds for individual and institutional donors who wish to direct grant-making themselves, to a greater or lesser degree,

• facilitate the development of strategies for how funds are used – helping donors to be sure that their funding will have an impact.

BCF was established on January 31st, 2013 with initial support from The Atlantic Philanthropies and Renaissance Re.

The foundation will operate with support of all shapes and sizes from individuals, businesses, religious organizations, government, and other foundations. BCF is governed by an independent Board of Directors.
